Application and Hiring Procedure
Review the following steps about APOU’s application and hiring process.
- Review open positions on the APOU Job Openings web page. APOU only accepts applications and resumes for open positions posted on our Job Openings web page.
Submit an online employment application and supporting documents as indicated.
The application may be submitted online through our online application form. A cover letter and/or resume or curriculum vitae may also be submitted and are highly recommended (required for faculty positions) to further highlight knowledge, skills and abilities.
Please note applications for Faculty Positions must include the following items:
- Completed Online Application
- Curriculum vitae
- Completed essay regarding all four faith topics as outlined on the instructions section on the online Faculty Application (please include the essay portion as a part of your resume in a single document for uploading)
Additional materials, including official transcripts, will be requested from selected applicants.
Applications will be received by the hiring manager.
Applications are tracked by the Human Resources database and then forwarded to the hiring manager for his or her review. Screening of applicants will continue until positions are filled.
Interviews will take place with the hiring manager.
It is up to the manager's discretion to contact any applicants for further information or to schedule an interview. Due to the large volume of applications received, applicants not selected for an interview may not be contacted.
Reference checks may be completed by the Human Resources representative and/or in coordination with the hiring manager.
For the final candidates, the applicants' references will be contacted by the hiring manager.
A background investigation may be requested.
Depending upon the position, a background check may be requested prior to an offer of employment. Should the hiring manager consider an applicant for a position, he or she will have the applicant complete the Disclosure and Consent Form. Human Resources will process the background check and notify the hiring manager upon completion.
An employment offer may be made by the hiring manager.
Once all employment considerations have been approved by Human Resources and the department head, an offer of employment may be extended to the selected candidate.
The New Employee Form(s), Form I-9, and other employment paperwork will be completed on or before the first work date.
The new employee will be given information regarding when to start, where and when to arrive, new employee orientation and what documents to bring to verify eligibility to work in the United States.
