Description

As a member of the web team, position participates in system and web application development for the university’s public website. This position collaborates extensively with the designers, account teams, specialists, and freelancers.

Examples of Duties

  1. Design, develop, and maintain web-based tools, modules, and back-end applications that enhance the user experience on our site, expedite the workflow process, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of content.
  2. Create Web pages for projects requiring advanced HTML and CSS coding, employ new templates and technologies, and execute email blast deployment.
  3. Develops methods to integrate APU website services with social media opportunities.
  4. Collaborates with Web team members to develop and maintain the directory structure of the university website server, and maintain coding and information architecture standards.
  5. Assist in developing the overall technology strategy for the university website and ensuring the technical solutions support development standards.
  6. Collaborate with account teams to develop project specifications and supporting documentation.
  7. Research best-practice technologies and development techniques, and apply learning outcomes to relevant web development topics such as organization of systems and content, inclusion of multimedia, and adherence to standards.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience

Three-five years in web development

Skills

Experienced in PHP, with knowledge of OOP a plus. Cross-browser, cross-platform web development using standards-based HTML and CSS. Ability to add interactive elements to web pages with Javascript and DOM. Knowledgeable in database design and SQL. Familiar with a Linux-based web server environment and comfortable developing on Mac and Windows workstations using ssh and FTP for server management. Familiar with web design and programs such as Adobe Fireworks. Ability to supervise and motivate student interns. Excellent communication skills.

Full-time, 12-month position. Salary to be determined based on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.
