Services and Accessories
If you elect to lease a laptop through Azusa Pacific University, you receive a complete technology package, which includes the following:
- Complete Software Package
HP models (renewing students only) come with Microsoft Windows 7 Professionall; Apple models have Macintosh Snow Leopard. All laptops come with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc.), Norton Anti-Virus, and a full suite of Internet applications/utilities (browsers, FTP, etc..) Microsoft Office is owned by the university and is not the property of the student.
In the event that a laptop is lost or stolen, an insurance policy is in place to diffuse the cost of replacement. While a $1,000 deductible does apply, this is significantly less than the cost of replacement. For students and their parents who desire greater protection, we recommend looking into an independent insurance company; many offer insurance specifically for laptop computers. (Please note that this insurance is only applicable within the United States; it does not apply to loss or theft outside of the country.)
- On-Campus Support and Loaner Laptop
On-campus technical support (not related to network access) is only available to students enrolled in the Laptop Program. Assistance is generally available to students from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and during abbreviated hours on the weekends. In addition, if a student's laptop cannot be fixed within 30 minutes, a loaner laptop is provided for the student’s use until his or her machine is repaired. If desired, the student’s files can be transferred from their laptop to the loaner.
