Kenya Alumni Outreach 2001
by Allison Oster '01
The Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of World Missions have joined forces, providing a ministry opportunity for alumni. In the summer of 2001, Craig Wallace '81 and Brian Albright '96 will lead the outreach team of APU alumni to Kenya, East Africa.
Along with field personnel Don '81 and Amy Rogers from Empowering Lives International (ELI), the team will work in evangelical outreaches and children's ministries, as well as several other hands-on field opportunities. The experience will allow alumni to encounter and learn about another culture firsthand, while developing relationships and sharing their faith in Kenya.
"It will be a blessing to serve alongside Don and Amy for a week and see how God is using their ministry to change lives," Wallace said.
This outreach will require a team of 10-13 alumni. "We want alumni who are eager to integrate ministry, service, and a willingness to learn about the people of Africa," Wallace said.
The trip, which will take place from late June to early July 2001, will cost $2,900. The cost includes training materials, travel, housing, food, supplies, administrative fees, and a three-day safari. Applications for a position on the team are due December 1, and interviews will take place December 8-19. For applications or questions, contact the Office of Alumni Relations, (626) 812-3026.
