Message from the Director

I designed the California University Experience (CUE) program in 2011 after a trip to China where I saw many poorly designed education tourism programs to the United States. These programs provided little substantive help to those families trying to understand the complicated U.S. education system and were very high in price. I knew that we, Azusa Pacific University, could produce a much better program at a lower cost, and fulfill our mission to help people—specifically international students in the U.S. The fact that we are a California university, established in 1899, with a reputation of being a safe, caring, and friendly place makes us the perfect school to host this program with the student in mind.

We are excited to offer the California University Experience filled with campus visits to some of the top universities, colleges, and companies on the West Coast. By the end of CUE, you will have a much better sense of what your strengths are, through the StrengthsFinder® personality assessment, and which type of school fits your education plan. You will also learn what schools look for when admitting students. We will share strategies to improve your application so that you will stand out from the thousands of other applicants.

You will no longer be making one of life’s most important decisions based on a color brochure or web page. Instead, you will experience 10–12 different school cultures for yourself. You will talk with their staff and students and tour their campuses. Many students find that school visits are the most important criteria in selecting the right school that will form a foundation for the rest of their life.

In addition to researching schools and programs, we have added extra events to help you experience American culture and further develop your English skills. Day trips to California beaches are a course in California and American culture, and of course very fun. Education seminars, English lessons, museum visits, sporting events, chatting at the local coffee shop with friends, and even shopping add to this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I hope that you will join us. My team of capable, caring, and friendly staff has a variety of international experience in many parts of the world. Many were international students themselves. Each of us has made a commitment to serve international students with our skills and talents. We look forward to serving you.

Sincerely,
David Dufault-Hunter
