International Student Services is committed to helping students grow and develop as crosscultural servant-learners through a variety of leadership and service activities.

Mentoring Programs

  • H.I.S. Program— Four-year mentoring program for recipients of the Haggard Scholarship
  • Ignite Mentoring Groups—for first-year international students
  • AIM Mentoring Program

Paid Internships

  • Programming Intern—responsible for creating and implementing international student events
  • International Chapel Worship Band Leader—facilitates intercultural worship at International Chapel
  • International Chapel Intern—assists with planning International Chapel and coordinating Ohana Groups
  • Graphic Intern—creates materials to market and promote ISS events
  • Video Intern—creates videos to showcase international student activities and stories

Unpaid Internships

Throughout the year, ISS can create customized internships and projects to meet major requirements or to help students build their résumé. The summer is a great time to get involved and complete an internship. Email vjacob@apu.edu for more information.

Student Volunteer Leadership Positions

  • ISS Events Team—a team of student volunteers that assists the Programming Intern in executing various events (including World Market, Global Fest, and International Student Awareness Month)
  • Summer ISS Events Team—organizes and plans summer events

  • International Awareness Month Planning Committee
  • International Orientation Leader

Service Projects

  • Christmas Caroling Service Project—serving the elderly
  • Mexico Outreach—serving children in Mexico
  • Helping Hands Ministry—serving those in need
