Mike provides vision, strategy, and leadership for faculty development, instructional technology, and online education at Azusa Pacific. Prior to coming to APU, Mike was a founding faculty member at the University of California, Merced, where he helped establish its Center for Research on Teaching Excellence and the Merritt Writing Program. Mike attends Fellowship Monrovia Church.

Kari serves as the primary point of contact for the office, performing many important duties that allow the office to operate efficiently and effectively. In addition, she provides administrative support to the executive director and other staff members. Kari lives in Glendora and enjoys running and helping others.

Ann consults with faculty on course design and digital pedagogy, including blended and online courses. Ann loves APU’s spirit and enjoys teaching, writing, research, and project management. Ann helped develop Bellevue University’s M.S. in Instructional Design and Development program; was vice president of interactive learning for CallSource; director of elearning for Clark Training & Consulting; and co-wrote the book The New Virtual Classroom with Ruth Clark.
Tom Wilson, M.S.Director of Online Learningtwilson@apu.edu
Tom leads the team that designs and builds fully online courses. Tom has an M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) from California State University, Fullerton, and is in the Ph.D. program for IDT at Old Dominion University. Before entering education, Tom was a TV writer/producer in Hawaii who worked with ABC Sports, NBC Sports, ESPN, and other networks.

Teri provides support and training to APU faculty who teach online or are using a companion site with their on-campus classes. She also teaches online courses as an adjunct professor and is pursuing a doctoral degree in organizational leadership with an emphasis in organizational development. Teri enjoys working with online faculty and students and loves learning about new technologies that can be incorporated into the learning process.

Andrew is responsible for processing and maintaining registration and enrollment data within APU’s learning management system. He works closely with the three registrar offices to establish terms and course schedules for online and face-to-face courses. He also provides support for faculty and students in course creation and access to the learning management system.

Tim supports various instructional technologies employed in traditional, blended, and online courses at APU, and assists faculty in their use of Sakai, Kaltura, Adobe Connect, Turnitin, and Google Apps. In addition, he spearheads multimedia projects and mobile learning initiatives. As a graduate of APU (B.A. in Youth Ministry ’11), Tim strives to serve the community and faculty who taught him.

Steve provides technical leadership for the campus learning management system (LMS), ensuring its efficient operation and ongoing maintenance and updates/upgrades. In addition, he serves as the liaison between ITT and Information and Media Technology (IMT) when technical issues need escalation.
Bruce Simmerok, Ph.D.Online Instructional Designerbsimmerok@apu.edu
Bruce works with subject-matter experts to develop programs and courses for online offering. In addition, he assists with many instructional technology projects that have campus-wide implications. Previously, he was the executive director of the Center for eLearning and Teaching, the director of the Office of Faculty Development, and the program director of pupil personnel services and special education.

George works with subject-matter experts to develop programs and courses for online offering, and has more than 17 years of instructional design and training experience. He has designed, developed, and implemented online learning programs for major corporations. George attends High Desert Church in Victorville, California, and volunteers in the children’s ministry with his family.

Katie works with subject-matter experts from various schools to develop courses and programs for online offering. Katie is an APU graduate (B.A. in Liberal Studies ’05, K–8 Teaching Credential ’06, M.A. in Educational Technology ’12), and hopes she can share her love for and experience in education and technology with the community that has given so much to her.
Joseph Kim, M.A.Online Instructional Designerjhkim@apu.edu
Joseph works with subject-matter experts to develop programs and courses for online offering. His experiences include teaching and developing ESL curriculum, advising undergraduate and graduate students pursuing online degrees, and developing curriculum for youth, college students, and adults in church settings. He holds an M.A. in Cross Cultural Studies and an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and is pursuing an Ed.S. in Educational Technology at the University of Missouri.
Elaine Monahan, M.A.Online Instructional Designeremonahan@apu.edu
Elaine brings with her more than 20 years of online instructional design and development experience and more than 15 years of online and on-the-ground teacher experience. She has worked in higher education and in the corporate sector, and her core competencies include e-learning and multimedia design, project management, technical writing, and instructor training. Elaine earned an M.A. from USC and continues to use technology to support learning initiatives. She is an avid hiker and backpacker and enjoys the outdoors any time she can.
