Internship Sites
There are a number of exciting opportunities for students in the program. Students have:
- Recruited and coordinated volunteers for L.A. County Bike Coalition (www.labikecoalition.org)
- Tutored students and taught ESL and set up a computer lab at L.A. Leadership Academy (www.laleadership.org), a charter middle school dedicated to teaching students about social justice and improving academic skills
- Done assessments and referrals at Aids Project Los Angeles (www.apla.org)
- Done client intake and assisted with litigation at the Inner City Law Center
- Worked on neighborhood projects for a city council member (www.lacity.org/council/cd13/)
- Planned events and assisted at JUICE (www.rampartjuice.com), a hip hop center for youth
- Recruited churches to participate in the L.A. Interfaith Council to End Hunger & Homelessness (www.lacehh.org)
- Coordinated membership-building efforts of the Alliance of Church Based Community Developers (www.accdonline.org)
- Worked on a campaign to get congregations involves in issues faced by the working poor with Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (www.cluela.org)
- Gathered community stories at Cornerstone Theater (www.cornerstonetheater.org), a multi-ethnic, ensemble-based theater company that exists to build bridges between and within diverse communities in L.A.
