A recent article from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune announces that Paul Flores, Ph.D., assistant professor of Liberal Studies, has recently filled a vacated seat on the Baldwin Park School Board. He was appointed by a unanimous vote of the Baldwin Park Unified School District Board of Education on Jan. 29. Flores, a Baldwin Park pastor, is also director of the Azusa Pacific University Liberal Studies/Undergraduate Education K-8 Program.

The article quoted Flores saying a few words expressing his enthusiasm at receiving this position, “[I have a] passion for students,” said Flores, 47. “Baldwin Park has over 17,000 students and I think it's important for us to see them as real people, not just ID numbers or people in seats.”

The other board members expressed high hopes for Flores, who will now undergo official training with the California School Boards Association.
