Azusa Pacific University's Stickman Bob was featured in a recent Psychology Today blog which discussed how APU’s Stickman Bob games are also integrated with information delivery.

Author of the blog, Pamela Rutledge talked about how the games can help students adjust to their college experience. The situation of entering college humanizes the institution through the comical way Stickman Bob has to dodge admission counselors by leaping wildly.

In the end, "they are using the technology to support ways of motivating and connecting with kids in the language they use every day. Not only will using technology help motivate and engage kids, it is also the only way to prepare them for problem-solving for jobs that haven't been invented yet in a world full of technology," wrote Rutledge.

Also, a recent San Gabriel Valley Tribune article showcased APU's new mobile website, www.apu.edu/m/. APU students are now able to check campus news and calendars, check scores from the basketball game, access faculty phone directories, and even find out what’s for dinner in the cafeteria from their Internet-enabled mobile device.

According to university officials quoted in the article, the access on mobile devices is only the first stage of development which will lead to the integration of technology into even more valuable ways, including in the classroom.

"We’re just trying to move alongside (students) so we can use the technology, instead of calling it something it's not — a distraction," said David Peck, associate vice president for university relations.
