APU alumnus Bryan Clay ’03 took first at the World Combined Events Challenge Hypo Meeting decathlon for the second time in his career. Taking place in Gotzis, Austria, the International Association of Athletics Federations World Combined Events challenge started Saturday, May 29 and continued to Sunday, May 30.

Despite harsh, rainy conditions, Clay outpointed the competition at Gotzis, winning the 100 meters sprint, discus, and the javelin throw to help propel him to victory. Clay entered into Sunday’s final competition in second place, but took control of the leader board after the 110-meter hurdles and never looked back.
