In an effort to create healthier communities, Azusa Pacific University's Neighborhood Wellness Center (NWC) is targeting the family's core — mothers.

A $7,500 community benefit grant from the Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center has helped NWC launch a "Let's Start at the Very Beginning" program that targets child-bearing women. It aims to reduce obesity and prevent chronic diseases like diabetes by educating the participants about proper nutrition and living an active lifestyle.
