APU alumna Grace Eleyae '09, inventor of Satin Lined Caps (SLAPS), is recognized by Huffington Post as an African American female founder dominating the market in 2016. She graduated from APU with a bachelor's degree in marketing.
Eleyae developed SLAPS to protect hair from harsh conditions. She developed the idea after her trip to Kenya resulted in damaged and brittle hair. The cap features an inner satin lining that keeps hair protected and moisturized, and an outer cotton knit blend that makes the accessory both stylish and functional.
