Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Research in Science (CRIS) hosts Jeff Zweerink, Ph.D., a specialist in gamma ray research, and faculty researcher at UCLA where he participated in the Solar Two Project and the Whipple Corporation.
WHAT:
Lecture: “Astronomy and Evolution”
Zweerink explores the more significant advances in our understanding of the universe, including Big Bang cosmology, universe design, and the idea of habitable zones. He will also investigate how knowledge of these advances might have affected Darwin’s thinking as he developed his theory of biological evolution.

FACTS:
Zweerink earned his bachelor’s degree in physics and a Ph.D. in Astrophysics at Iowa State University. He later taught at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Riverside.
