WHO:
Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Academic Service-Learning and Research and fourth grade students from local elementary schools

WHAT:
College Headed and Mighty Proud (C.H.A.M.P.) graduation is the culminating event for a semester-long service learning project that partners prospective teachers studying at APU with fourth grade students from the Azusa Unified School District (AUSD).

Approximately 230 fourth graders from Powell Elementary, Lee Elementary, and Mountain View Elementary will graduate. Administrators from AUSD and APU will attend.

WHY:
Through the C.H.A.M.P. Program, APU students encourage local fourth graders to pursue higher education. Founded in 1991, C.H.A.M.P. is a collaborative effort between APU and local elementary schools to empower and excite children about their future dreams and goals of attending college and to be mutually beneficial for APU education majors.
