Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Research in Science (CRIS) hosts J.P. Moreland, Ph.D., a distinguished professor of philosophy at Biola University’s Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, California.


WHAT:

Lecture: “A Historical Perspective on the Christian Worldview and its Impact on the Development of Modern Science”


In this lecture, Moreland explains how a Christian worldview is most naturally understood to imply three sorts of realisms that have stood as the basis for the development of modern science. Along the way, he suggests ways that Christian ideas can be integrated into science.

FACTS:

An author, lecturer, and debater on a wide range of philosophical, religious, and social issues, Moreland is most widely known for his contributions to contemporary philosophical apologetics, his evaluation of materialism and naturalism, and his defense of Christian theism. He also serves as a fellow at the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture which is considered the core of the intelligent design movement.
