Azusa Pacific University's Center for Research in Science (CRIS) hosts James Miser, MD, pediatric cancer specialist, and former chief medical officer and chief executive officer at the City of Hope National Medical Center

WHAT:

Lecture: "Medical Ethics Today"

Miser will discuss the recent healthcare reform and the new healthcare system. He will discuss the system from a Christian ethical perspective, and contrast it with the United Kingdom National Health Service. There will be opportunity for open discussion after the lecture.

BIO:

James Miser, MD, is a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at APU. He is a pediatric cancer specialist, and previously served as the chief medical officer and chief executive officer at the City of Hope National Medical Center.

Under his guidance, City of Hope undertook many long-term projects designed to improve the quality of care for patients. Miser was instrumental in the recruitment of key administrative leadership for the Helford Clinical Research Hospital at City of Hope, which opened in July 2005, offering patients advanced care in a technologically superior environment. He has also played an important role as a mentor to the City of Hope scientists.
