WHO:

Azusa Pacific University’s Department of Mathematics and Physics hosts guest speaker and oceanographerJosh Willis, Ph.D.

WHAT:

Lecture: “Global Warming Guaranteed: How the Oceans Ended the Climate Debate”

Water covers nearly 70 percent of the Earth's surface, so it's no wonder that the world's oceans play such an important role in global warming and climate change. As the planet heats up, the oceans absorb more than 80 percent of that heat. Willis will focus on global warming as it pertains to the world's oceans.

WHEN:

Tue., Nov. 2, 4:20–5:45 p.m.

WHERE:

Perry Lecture Hall, Segerstrom Science Center,

West Campus

701 E. Foothill Blvd., Azusa

FACTS:

Willis was a contributing author for the 2007 Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which won the Nobel Peace Prize. Willis is also the recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2009) and the JPL Lew Allen Award for Excellence (2009).
