Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Research in Science (CRIS) hosts Edward B. (Ted) Davis, Ph.D., a distinguished professor of the history of science from Messiah College in Grantham, Penn.
WHAT:
Lecture: “Why History Matters”
In this lecture, Davis examines the sources of the “warfare” view of science and religion, showing how two 19th-century American scholars – chemist John William Draper of New York University and historian Andrew Dickson White, the first president of Cornell University – effectively created the historical myth of the “warfare” of science and religion.
Davis is an author of numerous articles for historical and theological journals and writes for popular magazines. One of his essays on modern Jonah stories has been featured in two radio programs by the British Broadcasting Company.
