WHO:
More than 200 Azusa Unified School District students
WHAT:
Since 2001, the Azusa Unified School District (AUSD) and Azusa Pacific have hosted the Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) Summer School on APU’s campus to help students continue their education and expand their learning. That tradition continues this year with more than 200 G.A.T.E. students from 3rd–12th grade.
The elementary school and middle school youth take classes taught by AUSD teachers to help prepare them as they look ahead to high school and college, while high school students take courses with APU professors to obtain college credit in political science, biology, or writing. The program provides a great opportunity for local youth to participate in enriched curriculum at a time when many programs are hurt by budget cuts.
