WHO:
A team of six Azusa Pacific University students, Chase Pritchett, a senior business marketing major; Jordan Williams, a junior business management major; Andrew Earle, a junior psychology major; Brian Terada, a senior psychology major; Dan Eckman, a junior business major; and Alex Piering, a junior business major

WHAT:
The Ride for Water team undertakes a two-month-long bike ride across the United States to bring awareness to the world’s water crisis and fund projects including wells and filtration systems that give clean, sustainable water to communities in developing countries. The group aims to raise $40,000 during their journey for the nonprofit organization Charity: Water to provide approximately 2,000 people with clean water.

WHY:
Nearly 1 billion people live without clean water worldwide. Unsanitary water kills more than 3.4 million people a year.

WHEN:
May–June 2013

WHERE:
Across the continental United States.
The journey began in Washington and ends in New York.
