The 1960s folk-rock band We Five will perform at Azusa Pacific University on March 19 at 2 p.m. in the Upper Turner Campus Center on APU's East Campus at 901 E. Alosta Ave., Azusa.

We Five had the No. 1 song in America in 1965 with You Were on My Mind and was nominated for a Grammy Award as best new artist for that year. The band would go on to produce six albums and has just released a brand new album, There Stands the Door: The Best of We Five. The band continues to perform concerts, four decades after their year at the top of the music charts. In the 60s, We Five toured and played with artists such as The Byrds, The Kingston Trio, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and the Rolling Stones.

The concert will kick off the 22nd Annual David C. Bicker Communication and Ethics Conference held by the Department of Communication Studies. Prior to the concert at 12:30 p.m., a panel of APU faculty and students will discuss the theme of the conference: “Ethical Dimensions of Popular Music.” Afterwards, the band members will interact with the audience on the ethical challenges confronting Christian performers in the secular music industry.

Opening for We Five is the contemporary singer/songwriting duo Jeremy and Jessica.

The event is free to APU students, faculty, and alumni. Admission for the general public is $10. Tickets are purchased at the door. For more information, contact Jim Willis, (626) 815-6000, Ext. 3333; jwillis@apu.edu.
