Azusa Pacific University hosts the 25th annual Night of Champions on Saturday, March 21 from 2-8 p.m. The event draws approximately 2,000 Southern California teenagers and their pastors, coaches, teachers, parents, and friends for a day of fun, entertainment, and inspirational guest speakers.
Featured guest speaker, APU alumnus, and 2008 Olympic gold medalist for the decathlon, Bryan Clay ’03 will talk to youth about his life experience and importance of healthy living. Also on schedule for the night is the Grammy-nominated, Dove Award-winning Christian rock group Day of Fire.
During the day, Night of Champions participants can spend time in the 40-foot gaming trailer known as The Game Squad, enjoy In-N-Out burgers, live music, and more before moving into APU’s Felix Event Center at 6 p.m. for the evening program.
A recent addition to this annual event, the Classic Car Show marks its fifth year participating in Night of Champions. All entrants receive a participation certificate and the opportunity to win one of 25 trophies given to the best cars.
Night of Champions is a joint effort by APU and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to provide youth with an exciting, inspirational program and present successful role models in a time when they are few and far between. APU students come alongside the youth for this special day to answer any questions and provide a positive, caring environment.
Founded in 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the largest inter-denominational, youth-oriented Christian sports ministry in America. Dedicated to building real relationships that demonstrate integrity, service, teamwork, and excellent, this association presents to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of the Christian life.
