AZUSA, Calif. –Cheryl Canary, RN, Ph.D., ARRN-BC, PN, professor in Azusa Pacific University’s School of Nursing, was recently recognized with the Rose Liegler Graduate Scholarly Achievement Award. The award, which grants $2,000 and is accompanied by a clock, honors Canary’s continual leadership and passion for academic scholarship.

In addition to teaching, Canary is a member of the American Heart Association, Council of Cardiovascular Nursing and Nutritional Council, California Clinical Nurse Specialist Network, Sigma Theta Tau, and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Her extensive accomplishments coincide with her dedication to scholarly presentations. She most recently presented on heart failure in the elderly for the geriatric certification course at UCI Medical Center, Irvine.


Canary earned a BSN from California State University, Los Angeles. She also received an M.N. and a Ph.D., both from the University of California, Los Angeles.
