AZUSA, Calif. –Azusa Pacific University named Ontario, Calif. resident Sandy Hough director of retention and student engagement, effective Aug. 11.
“Her experience in managing retention and financial aid, and her overall passion for the future of undergraduate retention management at APU makes her the ideal candidate,” said Deana Porterfield, chief of staff and executive vice-president for enrollment.
She will assist in the undergraduate retention efforts to help students graduate. While partnering with the Office of Student Life and faculty to connect students, Hough will chair the retention committee whose foci include undeclared students, transfer students, students of color, and students whose high school credentials were lower.
In the past 10 years, Hough has served APU in many positions including director of student activities, interim director of multi-ethnic programs, director of student services, and associate dean of students.
Hough earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Westmont College with a minor in Business Economics and a Master of Education in College Student Affairs (CSA) from Azusa Pacific. She currently teaches part time in the CSA program while working full time as the associate director of Student Financial Services.
