AZUSA, Calif. — Following a year-long search, Azusa Pacific announced the selection of Ed Barron as executive director of the Office of Multi-Ethnic Programs, effective May 12.

"The focus of the office, the amazing caliber of the students involved, and the impact they can have on the world makes this an opportunity of a lifetime for me. I believe that all that I have done in my life time, both personal and professional, have prepared me for this assignment. I have always deeply valued culture, ethnicity, and God honoring diversity, and I am looking forward with great anticipation to being a part of the mosaic that is APU," said Barron.

Barron has served as a senior and administrative pastor, and has a passion for racial reconciliation. As executive director of multi-ethnic programs, he will lead in the ministry of reconciliation and oversee programs on campus.

"Having served in administrative leadership as well as having been a senior and executive pastor, Barron has a rich background of experience. He has been called to racial reconciliation and has lived a life that reflects this calling. His senior level leadership, his love and ongoing support of the APU community, and a heart for racial reconciliation make him a great addition to the APU community," said Terry Franson, Ph.D., senior vice president for student life and dean of students.

The Office of Multi-Ethnic Programs aims to cultivate a culture that values embraces ethnic diversity through investing in the development of student leaders who serve as catalysts for communication and understanding among people of all racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. It also provides supplemental support and services for ethnic minority students and sponsors programs and activities which increase awareness and appreciation for ethnic diversity.
