AZUSA, Calif. – More than 1,300 students will graduate from Azusa Pacific University on Sat., May 7, at the university’s spring commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies feature 690 bachelor’s degree, 458 master’s degree, and 184 degree completion recipients. Thirteen individuals will receive doctoral degrees.
- Graduate ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
- Undergraduate and adult and professional studies ceremony at 6 p.m.
- Ceremonies take place at APU’s Cougar Stadium, East Campus, 901 E. Alosta Ave., Azusa
The graduate ceremony keynote speaker is Scott Daniels, Ph.D., who joined Azusa Pacific in 2010 as dean of APU’s School of Theology. He has more than 20 years of experience in the Church and higher education. He is also the senior pastor at Pasadena First Church of Nazarene. Daniels holds a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics and Theology and a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Preseminary from Northwest Nazarene College.
This year’s undergraduate keynote speaker, Michael Lizárraga, is president and chief executive officer of The East Los Angeles Community Union (TELACU), the largest community development corporation in the United States. Under Lizárraga’s leadership, TELACU has grown to more than $600 million in assets, completely self-sufficient from any type of governmental assistance. Lizárraga is a trustee of APU, a governor of the California State University Foundation, and a board member of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and Faith Community Church in West Covina.
