AZUSA, Calif. — Nearly 600 students will graduate from Azusa Pacific University on July 29 at the university’s summer commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies feature 126 bachelor’s degrees, 297 master’s degrees, 138 degree completions, and 32 doctoral degrees.
- Undergraduate, adult, and professional studies ceremony at 3 p.m.
- Graduate ceremony at 7 p.m.
- Ceremonies take place at APU’s Felix Event Center, West Campus, 701 E. Foothill Blvd., Azusa.
The undergraduate keynote speaker is Reverend Dan Jessup, M.Div., an ordained Presbyterian Church (USA) pastor and a parish associate at First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. Author of two books, Guys and Girls (Zondervan 2002), Jessup was also a national speaker with Youth Specialties USA for 11 years and continues speaking for Youth Specialties in Latin America. He has taught at both Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, and Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. Jessup graduated from Pepperdine University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Rick Warren, D.Min., will serve as keynote speaker for the graduate ceremony. Warren is the pastor and founder of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif. Today, it is one of America’s most influential churches with approximately 20,000 people attending weekend services. He is also the author of The Purpose Driven Life, the best-selling hardback book in American history, with more than 30 million copies sold worldwide. Warren earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California Baptist University, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.
