AZUSA, Calif.— Azusa Pacific University Theater begins its 2011-12 season with the comedic Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone. The show runs Thursday—Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:30 p.m., October 13—29. All performances take place at the APU Theater, located in the Mary Hill Center, on APU’s West Campus, 701 E. Foothill Blvd., Azusa.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a unique combination of originality and talent, addressing a great desire in the hearts of the audience to be entertained. The play begins when a die-hard musical theater fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep, her true love.

APU’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone is directed by Bart McHenry, dean of fine arts at Saddleback College. APU is one of the first universities to stage this Tony Award-winning show.
