AZUSA, Calif. – Approximately 1,350 students will graduate from Azusa Pacific University on Sat., May 5, 2012, at the university’s spring commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies feature 690 bachelor’s degree, 492 master’s degree, 170 adult and profession studies degree, and 14 doctoral degree recipients.

  • Graduate and adult and professional studies ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
  • Undergraduate ceremony at 6 p.m.

    901 E. Alosta Ave., in Azusa

Shauna Niequist, New York Times best-selling author of Cold Tangerines, will deliver the commencement address at both ceremonies. Niequist has inspired readers around the world with her collection of 40 short stories that celebrate the extraordinary moments hidden in our everyday lives. Her joyful approach to life and witty sense of humor make Niequist a sought after speaker. Her commencement address is entitled “Forces of Nature.”

“There is nothing more sacred or profound than this day,” Niequist says in Cold Tangerines. “Today is your big moment, moments really. The life you’ve been waiting for is happening all around you.”

Sharing a big moment together, all four of the Abella quadruplets, residents of Pacifica, Calif., will graduate from APU with their undergraduate degrees this spring: Daniel as a business/marketing major, David as a graphic design major, Sarah as an athletic training major, and Naomi as a global studies major.

“At APU, each of us grew in our faith,” said Daniel. “We discovered who we were as individuals while maintaining our close bond. The college years have been an incredible journey, and commencement is a mile marker for the four of us. We reached this goal together, which amazes us all.”
