Azusa Pacific University and Citrus College invite the community to pay tribute to the nation's military men and women at the 10th Annual Saluting Our Veterans event on Thurs., Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on the Citrus College Campus Center Mall, located at 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., in Glendora.

The program will include keynote addresses by Citrus College alumni and current APU students Elizabeth Saucedo of the U.S. Army and Baron Cheng of the U.S. Marine Corps. The event will also feature the Gladstone High School Marching Band, military vehicles and displays, the Veterans Honor Guard, and veteran honorees from the cities of Azusa and Glendora, Citrus College, and Azusa Pacific University.

APU’s veteran honoree is Stuart Strother, PhD, professor of economics in the School of Business and Management and faculty advisor for the APU student Veterans Club. Strother holds a PhD. in Urban and Public Affairs from the University of Louisville and a M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the University of London. Strother served in the U.S. Army from 1987-1991 stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. He worked as a petroleum supply specialist in an aviation battalion, earning an Air Assault Badge.

Azusa Pacific University was ranked as a Best College for Veterans by U.S. News & World Report in its 2016 rankings. Additionally, APU was named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine for 2015, placing the university in the nation’s top 20 percent of military-friendly schools. APU was selected for these honors based on its continued success in providing military students with quality programs, discounts, scholarships, clubs, networking, and staff support.
