APU Professor Honored with Excellence and Leadership Award

AZUSA, Calif. –
Mentone, Calif. resident Renee Pozza, Ph.D., associate dean of curriculum and clinical practice in Azusa Pacific University’s School of Nursing, recently received the Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award. The award, which grants $2,000 and is accompanied by a clock, honors Pozza's passion for enabling students to excel to their highest potential, and for continual leadership in the department.
"Dr. Pozza is an exceptional faculty member who exemplifies excellence in teaching, research, clinical practice, and service to the university," said Michael Whyte, Ph.D., provost. "Her students recognize her as encouraging, supportive, and knowledgeable."
Pozza earned a B.S. in Nursing, an M.S.N. as an Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a post-master's Family Nurse Practitioner Certification, all from Azusa Pacific. She has been an adjunct professor at APU’s School of Nursing before becoming an associate professor in 2000. In 2005, she was named associate dean of curriculum and clinical practice. Pozza has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Faculty Development Award for Service to the Community, the Alumni Centennial Award, and the Helene Fuld Fellow Award from the International Oncology Conference in London.
