Forensics Team Finds Success

AZUSA, Calif. –
On Sun., Dec. 4, the Azusa Pacific University forensics team placed fourth at the Pacific Southwest Conference Fall Championship at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Of the 50 teams that took part in the tournament, APU put together one of its finest performances of the year to capture their second straight top five finish in the four-year school division.
The Cougars were led by performances from Rachel Fagg in the prose category and Greg Pereira in extemporaneous, who both finished fifth. In addition, Brandon Youngblood and Giuseppe Alagna made it to finals in novice and junior impromptu. In debate, Tim Kamermayer and Chris Hansen finished as the 8th and 10th best speakers in the open division.
"We are very pleased with the way the team performed this weekend," said team captain Greg Pereira, senior communication studies major. "We are finally starting to click, and we should be extremely successful next semester." The forensics team competes next on January 2 at the Southern California Urban Debate League Tournament at California State University, Fullerton.
