Local Students Graduate from C.H.A.M.P. Program

WHO:
Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Academic Service-Learning and Research and more than 600 local fourth grade students

WHAT:
College Headed and Mighty Proud (C.H.A.M.P.) graduation is the culminating event for a nine-week service learning project that partners undergraduate Teacher Education majors with fourth grade students from the Azusa Unified School District (AUSD).

Richard and Vivian Felix Event Center on APU’s West Campus
701 E. Foothill Blvd., Azusa, Calif.

WHEN:
Wed., Nov. 28, 6:30-8 p.m.

WHY:
Through the C.H.A.M.P. Program, APU students encourage local fourth graders to pursue higher education. Founded in 1991, C.H.A.M.P. is a collaborative effort between APU and local elementary schools to get children excited about their future dreams and goals of attending college.

FACTS:

  • Fourth grade students from Powell Elementary, Paramount Elementary, and Magnolia Elementary will graduate at this event.
  • Administrators from AUSD and APU will attend. Professors involved in the program will wear their regalia at the event.
