Night of Champions Brings Together Southern California Youth
March 20, 2008
AZUSA, Calif. –
On Saturday, March 29, from 4-8 p.m., Azusa Pacific University, in collaboration with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), hosts the 23rd annual Night of Champions, a gathering of nearly 2,000 Southern California teenagers and their pastors, coaches, teachers, parents, and friends.
Special guests include pro-football player Dennis Weathersby, originally from Glendora, California, and Los Angeles-based artist John Zender Astrada. Motocross champion Andrew Short with Honda Racing will make a video appearance. Guests will also hear from Christian singer/songwriter, Phil Wickham, whose recent hits include Divine Romance and Grace.
Additionally, SevnOne, an action sports camp for youths, will present exhibitions during the outdoor program, which also includes an obstacle course, basketball shootout, and classic car show with more than 70 cars.
Night of Champions is an exciting, powerful one-night ministry event that focuses on reaching unchurched youth by creating a non-intimidating Christian environment. Each year, APU and FCA work together to invite performers, athletes, and guest speakers who can serve as role models for youth.
Founded in 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the largest inter-denominational, youth-oriented Christian sports ministry in America. Dedicated to building real relationships that demonstrate integrity, service, teamwork, and excellent, FCA presents to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of the Christian life.
