Azusa Pacific University’s
Department of Theater, Film, and Television hosts the 2008 Student Film Premiere Night on April 24, featuring six student-produced short films selected by
Cinema and Broadcast Arts faculty. Several Cinema Broadcast Arts majors will receive awards for their production. A dessert reception at Twin Palms restaurant will follow.
A second student film festival on April 25, hosted by the Azusa Film Society, will showcase pieces chosen by the society. Held at the former drive-in lot on APU’s West Campus, the festival will re-create the drive-in experience with films shown on an outdoor screen as attendees watch from their cars.

WHY:
“Our goal is to prepare APU students to have a positive influence in mainstream Hollywood,” said Michael Smith, MFA, associate professor in the Department of Theater, Film, and Television. “This premiere acts as the culmination of that preparation while showcasing the talent of APU’s film students.”
FACTS:
Tickets for the April 24 Student Film Premiere Night are $10 and may be purchased at APU’s Felix Event Center. Admission is free for the April 25 film festival, hosted by the Azusa Film Society.
