New Associate Campus Pastor Helps Meet Student Needs

AZUSA, Calif. –

Azusa Pacific University’s Office of the Campus Pastor welcomes the newest addition to their staff, Chris Adams, Ph.D., of Temple City, Calif., joining Campus Pastor Woody Morwood and Associate Campus Pastor Jamie Noling. With more than 4,100 traditional undergraduate students, this additional role helps better meet students’ spiritual needs.

Adams serves as the associate campus pastor for undergraduate community care, focusing on shepherding students while also empowering and training campus spiritual leaders. Committed to developing deeper relationships among students and campus pastors, Adams meets with regularly students for prayer needs, counseling, or just to spend quality time getting to know student. In this crucial role, he will help influence the hiring and training of several new positions, including assistant campus pastors.

“Chris is a great gift to our office. He brings in an amazing set of skills and tools to work with,” said Morwood. “He knows what it means to be a pastor. He has experience working in a local church, and he has a theologically trained background.”

Adams received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Travecca Nazarene University, Nashville, Tenn. He earned an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy, and an M.A. in Theology, both from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, Calif. He received a Ph.D. in Clinical Family Psychology also from Fuller. Adams brings in a wealth of experience as a pastor, teacher, and mentor. As Morwood said, “he is a natural fit.”
