Young Named Executive Director of Human Resources

AZUSA, Calif. –

Pasadena, Calif. resident Brenda Young, JD, has accepted the position as executive director of Azusa Pacific University’s Office of Human Resources, effective Oct. 29, 2007. As executive director, Young provides day-to-day management of human resource functions as well as oversight and clarity to the office as a whole. Young also serves as a resource to campus leadership regarding employee relations.

“Brenda brings a level of professionalism and expertise that will help us as we continue to seek God-honoring excellence in all that we do,” said Gary Lemaster Ph.D., vice president for people and organizational development. “Her approach to problem-solving compliments the collaborative efforts of the university. Hiring an individual of Brenda's caliber to manage the university’s human resources boosts our efforts to make APU a better place to work.”

“I am truly pleased and excited at becoming a member of the APU family, and in particular, a member of the Human Resources family, which has been so welcoming and supportive,” shared Young. “I do believe that God has led me to APU and that there is no better place for me to be at this time in my life. I look forward to working with, and interacting with, staff, faculty, and students.”

Young came to APU from CBS Corporation, where she served as the director of Human Resources for eight years. She acted in a similar role at the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation from 1996-98. Prior to these roles, she held positions at KCET-TV from 1980-83 and KTLA-TV from 1983-93. Young earned a B.A. in English Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also received a JD from the University of Southern California.
