August 26, 2005

AZUSA, Calif. –

For the fifth consecutive year, Azusa Pacific University secured a place among the Top 25 of U.S.News & World Report’s 2006 America’s Best Colleges Western Universities-Master’s classification, ranking 22nd in a two-way tie with Oklahoma City University, Okla. Additionally, for the second year, The Princeton Review designated APU as 1 of 122 colleges in the 2006 Best in the West category.

“I am thrilled that U.S.News & World Report has again recognized APU as one of America’s best universities,” said APU President Jon R. Wallace, DBA. “This community of disciples and scholars continues to pursue the highest standards of God-honoring excellence.”

“This recognition demonstrates just one tool that helps prospective students and parents make informed decisions about their higher education goals,” said Michael M. Whyte, Ph.D., provost. “Azusa Pacific University’s strength lies in its quality academic programs and superior faculty. In addition to reviewing national rankings, we encourage students to make campus visits and meet faculty for a more complete picture of the university experience.”

APU is among 570 schools nationwide ranked in the universities-master’s classification. Seven primary areas are considered in the ranking, including peer assessment, retention and graduation rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving. Rankings are derived 75 percent from objective measures, and 25 percent from a reputation survey distributed to presidents, provosts, and deans of admission at participating schools.
