Dianne Harmel teaches Applied Voice and Intermediate Voice Class at APU. Additionally, she is the CEO and Artistic Director of Foothill Academy of Vocal Arts, a nonprofit organization she founded in 2006 to provide voice instruction and choral music opportunities for elementary and high-school age youth in the greater-Pasadena area. Harmel is an accomplished mezzo-soprano soloist specializing in oratorio work. She also serves as choir director at Sierra Madre Congregational Church. Harmel earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Southern California, where she studied with Metropolitan Opera mezzo Herta Glaz. She received a Master of Arts in Music from California State University, Los Angeles specializing in Vocal Pedagogy.
