Kress’ professional singing began with the Roger Wagner Chorale. He was a chorister and soloist through three national tours and two Far East tours. He has been a fellow at the Aspen Summer Festival, a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera auditions, and a winner of the Southern California NATS Artist of the Future auditions.
He currently serves on the voice faculty at APU and enjoys seeing students grow into better singing musicians. His work is with both music majors and nonmusic majors. He believes singing is important in the cultural life of the Church as a whole, and in our country. He wants to see his students become muture, intelligent performers, and does his utmost to be clear about what is required of them in the professional world and what they can expect once they are engaged in it.
Kress continues to sing in churches around Southern California, at Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles as a staff singer, and in productions with the Los Angeles Opera. He is married and has two children.
