Tom Boyd, is one of the most heard oboists today. Boyd has been a featured oboist in more than 1,400 motion picture soundtracks including Titanic, Indiana Jones, Forrest Gump, Batman, Shawshank Redemption, Water for Elephants, Beauty and the Beast, and Castaway, all while putting his signature oboe sound on movies such as Prince of Tides, The Bucket List, Schindler’s List, and Charlie Wilson’s War. He has performed at the Oscars, the Grammys, the Latin Grammys; appeared on The Tonight Show with Neil Diamond; and in recording sessions for various artists such as Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler, and Natalie Cole.
A native of Pasadena, Boyd attended The Juilliard School of Music and at the age of 22 won the First Oboe position in the Honolulu Symphony. After 10 years in Hawaii, Boyd returned to break into the film industry. Soon after, he was heard in the hit movies, Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Right Stuff, and John Williams’ The River.
Boyd currently teaches at Azusa Pacific University in the Artistic Certificate program. He also travels all over the world giving masterclasses and recitals, and is founder of the group, The Hollywood Soloists.
