What are you afraid of? What do you do when you are afraid? Who or what do you turn to in that time of fear?
Everyone experiences fear at some point or another. It may be something small or big, but we all have something that causes us to be afraid.
Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
In this passage, God has just told Joshua that he will be the new leader of the Israelite people. In a span of 4 verses (Joshua 1:6–9) God tells Joshua to “be strong and courageous”. In verse 9 we see the reason that Joshua does not have to be afraid and the same goes for us whenever we encounter a time of fear. “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
It does not say that God will be with us only in certain places. He is with us wherever we go. He is with us at all times. Therefore, we should live boldly and courageously because we have the ultimate lifeline right there with us, protecting us, guiding us, and watching over us.
