School of Nursing Students Receive Scholarships
December 11, 2008

Amidst tough economic times, Kaiser Permanente awarded the Deloras Jones Nursing Scholarship to sixteen APU students from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and RN to BSN degree completion programs. Awards were based primarily on financial need and were granted to students in the following categories: academic excellence, graduate/doctoral studies, underrepresented groups, and nursing as a second career. Each student received $2,500 from the scholarship fund to help them meet expenses and complete their education.

Congratulations to Stephanie Austin, Sonia Brooks, Rosalinda Brown, Ndubuisi Chijioke, Erika Conner, Carolyn Davis, Melissa Gaeta, Jacqueline Jauregui, Elma Khechemyan, Kelly Lotz, Erica Maldonado, Julius Obinwanne, Theodora Okonkwo, Obianuju Rivera, Selah Sales, and Kannika Vorabutra for earning this honor.

As one of the largest employers of nurses in California, Kaiser Permanente's annual support to build California's nurse workforce will exceed $4 million in 2008 for Nursing Pathways, career ladder programs, nursing scholarships, grants to colleges, and forgivable loans.
