Julie Phillips is a nursing instructor both at IERC and the Azusa campus. Phillips enjoys watching the students grow throughout the program from being student nurses to confident Certified Registered Nurses. As a proud APU alumni, she says it is a great pleasure to be a part of the SON faculty body and to contribute to the development of future Nurses.
Phillips is also a Registered Nurse and Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her RN experience is focused on patients in telemetry that are coming from the ICU and from ER. Over 50% of the population she sees are geriatric with cardiac related issue. Her RN and NP experience in both in-patient (acute care) setting and out patient setting has opened numerous opportunities for patient education and management of cardiac health. Once again, she has found herself paying special attention to educating female geriatric patients on small lifestyle changes and compliance with current cardiac drug therapy to prevent future devastating cardiac events.
