Patricia Esslin is eager to teach and connect with her students. Her commitment to the future of nursing is manifested through the teaching of beginning nurses. Esslin strives to dynamically engage the student within the learning process and her enthusiasm is contagious. She is active in professional nursing organizations such as the Southern California chapter of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing (ASPMN) and the local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, Iota Sigma.

Esslin was honored for her leadership and service for the Southern California chapter of ASPMN at the 2007 annual ASPMN conference by receiving the National Distinguished Service Award. She has served as President for two terms and is currently the Treasurer. Esslin is the current Vice President for Iota Sigma. She has been actively involved in professional nursing organizations for many years and encourages her students to do the same.

Esslin is the lead instructor for the MedSurg course in the undergraduate nursing program and also teaches clinical for the same course with experience in teaching Rehab nursing as well.
