School Librarianship as a Profession

Posted May 11, 2008

  • Each year more and more  K-12 schools are investing in Library Media Teacher positions. The need for trained Library Media Teachers continues to grow as the demand to have additional resource material to compliment the ever-changing educational curriculum. (See the California School Library Association job hotline.) It is a fact that a large number of the credential candidates currently enrolled in the Library Media Teacher Credential Programs work in library services using an emergency credential.

The school library media teacher credential program helps to fill this need while  exposing the graduate to a rich set of experiences, preparing them to administer successful and resourceful school library programs.

The program at Azusa Pacific University has been approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
