Message from the Resident Director
I am delighted you are considering the Azusa Oxford Semester for your study abroad experience. Oxford University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world. As an associate student, you will have the opportunity to learn from Oxford tutors and to participate in many aspects of university life (sports, social clubs and activities, and chapel, to name just a few).
Living and studying abroad is challenging; you will be stretched intellectually, socially, personally, and spiritually. But it is an incredible feeling to step outside your comfort zone, to embrace the unknown, and to gain more confidence than you ever thought possible.
The Oxford University motto is: Dominus Illuminatio Mea, “The Lord is My Light” (Psalm 27:1). If you decide to study abroad at Oxford, I encourage you to adopt the university motto as your own during the semester; to invite God into every aspect of your life and to discover anew (or for the first time) what it means to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself.
I am here in Oxford to support you in being intentional about making the most of your Azusa Oxford Semester experience. If you have questions or would like to correspond, please feel free to email me at tctisdale@apu.edu. I will be praying for you as you discern whether God is leading you to study abroad in Oxford. If you are led to make your way “across the pond,” I look forward to meeting you!
Blessings,
Theresa C. Tisdale, Ph.D.
