Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy
Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy focus on the evaluation and treatment of children with conditions resulting from injury, disease, or congenital issues. There is an emphasis on movement, sensory integration, and daily function.
Physical and Occupational Therapy is aimed at improving a child’s development and ability to function effectively and independently within the family, community and school. Treatment includes sensory integrative techniques which expose a child to different types of sensory input through play to promote an appropriate response to their environment. Intervention uses neuromuscular techniques to facilitate movement of a child’s joints and muscles and train the nervous system to respond appropriately to changes in position and posture. Children are engaged with exciting goal-directed gross and fine motor activities and play to improve the function of everyday activities.
The Pediatric Neurodevelopment Institute evaluates and treats children from birth through adolescence. Our Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapists are professionals who are trained in child development and operate as part of an interdisciplinary assessment and treatment team. Working with children in a fun and challenging environment every day, our PTs and OTs are experts when it comes to motivating your child to improve his/her functional abilities. As your child progresses, your therapist will also teach you what to expect and how you can help your child at home.
In addition, working with Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and other specialists, we teach prenatal and postnatal exercises to expecting or new mothers, make appropriate referrals to community agencies, and help your child transition to these agencies smoothly.
