Research and Training

The Pediatric Neurodevelopment Institute serves as a resource for ongoing interdisciplinary research, training, and education for faculty and doctoral students in the schools of Behavioral and Applied Sciences, Education, and Nursing at Azusa Pacific University. The Institute provides a means for research and practice that allows us to share our knowledge and expertise with parents and other caregivers, school personnel, and the professional community. Ongoing research projects at the Pediatric Neurodevelopment Institute include those focusing on sensory processing in young children, neuropsychological functioning in children with attention and social problems, issues facing gifted children of color (including those who are bilingual), and the social and emotional functioning of gifted children. Training programs at the Pediatric Neurodevelopment Institute are dedicated to training graduate level practitioners in state-of-the-art empirically supported practices for helping children and their families. Particular emphasis is placed upon working across disciplines to provide the best services for each individual child and family.
